ABODE Home Inspections Ltd was founded by Peter Moyse to provide HCRs, EPCs and HCSs (Home Condition Surveys).
The aim is to provide a professional, technically excellent, efficient and timely service to the highest standard at very competitive fees; for the local communities of Bournemouth, Poole, East Dorset and the Purbecks.
We provide an independent service for the provision of EPCs, HCRs and HCSs to vendors landlords, letting agents, solicitors and estate agents.
Peter; formerly a Member of The Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) has a background of over 35 years in senior construction management roles, on a diverse range of projects including large private and public sector housing developments, schools, hospitals and varied commercial developments valued from £2m to £100m.
Before setting up the business Peter trained to become a Home Inspector. This entailed passing the ABBE examination which is level 4 NVQ / degree standard, in order to be entitled to provide EPCs, HCRs and HCSs.
Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) are only entitled to provide EPCs. The training for DEA takes only 1/2 days followed by an examination and the completion satisfactorily of 5 sample EPCs. No previous experience in the construction industry is required.
Terms & Conditions
Fees.
A fee can be obtained by telephone or email.
Details needed for us to provide a quotation for an EPC include:
- Address of property including postcode.
- An email address.
- Type of property including number of bedrooms, no of reception rooms, no of floors, no of habitable rooms in the roof.
Inspections.
Inspections can normally be undertaken between 8.30am and 6.00pm (4.00pm in the winter) weekdays. Inspections are not normally made at weekends without an additional fee.
Safe access is needed to all areas of the property including the roof spaces.
Access is needed to all heating and fixed lighting appliances and services meters.
Appointment Time.
Inspections can be arranged within 1-2 working days of the enquiry; with the EPC being available usually within 1-2 working days.
Basic EPCs for marketing will normally be provided in 1-2 working days.
Payment.
Full payment is required (by cheque or cash) at the time of inspection.
No refunds can be made once the inspection has commenced.
If the client fails to attend the inspection within 30 minutes of the agreed inspection time, there may be additional fee of 30% of the EPC fee.
Rights of Withdrawal.
We reserve the right to withdrawal from any commission if, at the commencement of the inspection, the following statements are found NOT to be correct:
1) The property is in a safe condition that poses no threat to the health and safety of the inspector.
2) Safe access is available to all areas of the property.
3) All services are connected, in use and all fixed lighting has light emitters.
4) There is no conflict of interest.
The Client can cancel a commission more than 4 hours before the inspection is due, at no cost. If cancellation is made less than 4 hours prior to the inspection time a charge of £15.00 will be levied.
How to complain.
If you have a problem, we can help.
We aim to offer you the best possible service, but there may be occasions when you feel you have cause for complaint. If so, we will always try to resolve the problem quickly and to your satisfaction. If you are unhappy with our response, you can take your complaint further through our complaints procedure.
Where to first make your complaint.
We aim to resolve your concerns within five working days. Sometimes it may take longer to look into the matter fully. If that happens we will let you know within 5 working days who will reply and when.

If you are still not happy.
In the unlikely event that you remain unhappy, you can ask us to review your complaint.
If you are still not satisfied after the review, you can, at this stage, ask our Home Inspector Certification Scheme providers NHER/SAVA to help. They are registered with and monitored by the Government as Home Inspector certification scheme providers. Their details are provided below.
